AJ Styles Calls Sega Dreamcast the Most Underrated Console of All Time

With games like “Shenmue,” “Sonic Adventures 1 and 2,” “Crazy Taxi,” “Resident Evil – Code Veronica,” “Phantasy Star Online,” and the popular “Jet Set Radio,” the Sega Dreamcast has gained a cult following among gamers. Professional wrestler AJ Styles recently joined the ranks of Dreamcast fans, calling it the most underrated video game console ever.

Styles shared his love for the Dreamcast on Twitter. When asked about his favorite old-school gaming console, he expressed his admiration for the Dreamcast. He even argued that it was ahead of its time, praising its memory card and online gaming functions. Styles pointed out that at the time of its release, online gaming was just starting to gain traction, and the Dreamcast offered innovative features like downloadable content and in-game voice chat.

Released in November 1998 in Japan and a year later in Europe and the United States, the Dreamcast became the first console to introduce online play. This, paired with its variety of wrestling games, including titles from ECW and WWE, likely appealed to Styles.

Though Styles has been involved in a feud with Karrion Kross on “WWE SmackDown,” where he has emerged victorious twice, he can now shift his focus back to his in-ring duties. In a recent match, Kross managed to defeat Karl Anderson, gaining some measure of revenge against Styles and The OC.

The praise from someone as prominent as AJ Styles only adds to the reputation of the Sega Dreamcast as a beloved and innovative console in the gaming community.
